Leslie Simmons

Leslie Dale Simmons, 65, of Independence, Kansas passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Labette Health in Independence, Kansas. At the request of the family, cremation will be taken place under the direction of Potts Chapel.

Leslie Dale Simmons was born on August 3, 1952 to Johnie and Elnora (Thompson) Simmons, in Independence, Kansas. Leslie attended the Independence school system. Leslie married Terri Wilson on September 10, 1971. The two were married for 23 years and later divorced. Leslie and Terri welcomed two children, Holly and Sarah. Throughout Leslie's life he was a jack of many trades, he worked as a farm hand, mechanic, and in the oil fields. Leslie took advantage of his spare time by enjoying some of his favorite hobbies, fishing and working on his rat rod, but the one activity he always made time for was his grandchildren. Leslie's favorite activity was riding ATVs with his grandkids.

Those left to cherish Leslie's memory include; daughters, Holly Simmons, of Independence, Sarah and husband, Aaron Pouncil, of Independence, sisters, Judy Valentin, of Lenapah, OK, Pricilla Dewitt, of Neodesha, and grandchildren, Summer Chastian, Lavender Simmons, Marriah Wade, Sebastian Simmons, and Talon Bartley.

Leslie is preceded in death by, his parents, Johnie and Elnora (Thompson) Simmons, and brothers, Calvin Simmons, John Lee Simmons, and Floyd "Shorty" Simmons. Online condolences may be left at www.pottsfuneralhome.com.
