Leonard Farner, 82, of Niotaze, Kansas passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at his residence in Niotaze. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, Kansas with Mike Morris officiating under the direction of Potts Chapel of Caney, Kansas. A book signing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Potts Chapel in Caney. Online condolences may be left at www.pottsfuneralhome.com. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Niotaze Community Center or the Niotaze Fire Department and these remembrances may be left at Potts Chapel in Caney. Leonard was born October 10, 1930 to George Franklin Farner and Winona Barbara Jean Bennett Farner in Wellington, Kansas. He lived the majority of his life in Niotaze, Kansas. He served in the United States Army during the end of World War II and was stationed in Japan until he was honorably discharged. He worked as a farmer, a stockman, and a postmaster. He is a lifetime member of the Sedan VFW. As Leonard got older he enjoyed coon hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He is survived by one son, Vance Farner of Niotaze, Kansas one daughter, Brenda Artherton and husband Curtis of Niotaze, Kansas grandchildren Kristi French and husband Lyle, Marty Ruark and husband Mitch, and Dustin Artherton and greatgrandchildren Bri Ruark, Sawyer French, and Carsen French. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Winona, his wife Phyllis M. Farner and their son Franklin D. Farner. Arrangements are under the care of Potts Chapel of Caney, Kansas.
