Leon Stark

Leon Ray Stark, of Independence, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Medicalodges.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, December 27, 2019 at 11:00am at Potts Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Thursday, 5:00-7:00pm.

Leon ray Stark was born on May 4, 1943 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was the son of Oscar and Helen (Vincent) Stark. He was one of five children. He grew up in Richmond, Indiana and joined the United States Marine Corp in 1960.

In 1964, Leon married Sandra Dalbey. They later divorced. He married Kelly Frame in 1976. They later divorced. His life campion was Gloria Elstro.

Leon enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing and drinking beer.

Those preceding him in death were his parents, brother: Jim, sisters: Helen, Matilda and Pat, daughter: Carmen Stark, grandson: Christopher (Bubba) Matthews, and campion Gloria Elstro.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Sheila (Joe Leon) Stark, Tim Stark, Sherry Stark, Tammy Grimes and Debbie Ray, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
