Leon Pete Cecil Ellis, age 82, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Cherryvale Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Cherryvale, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas with the Reverend Steve Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the Fredonia Cemetery in Fredonia, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Leon Pete Ellis was born March 19, 1928 in Coyville, Kansas to John Jack and Blanche Lewis Ellis where he attended elementary school. Pete worked at the Turkey Factory in Cherryvale, Kansas and moved with the company to Arkansas. He worked for Turkey Factory for 12 Years. Pete then returned to rural Cherryvale, Kansas where he worked for Emerson for over 10 years. Survivors include one brother Gerald Ellis of Cherryvale, Kansas three sons Larry Ellis of Cherryvale, Kansas, Allen Ellis of Parsons, Kansas and Kenneth Ellis of Cherryvale, Kansas two daughters Sara Polinski of Sycamore, Kansas and Velma West of Cherryvale, Kansas 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brother, 4 sisters and one daughter.
