Leland Anderson

Leland Anderson, age 72, of Chanute, Kansa formerly of Independence, Kansas died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Heritage Health Care in Chanute, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the Reverend Robert Montgomery officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel. Leland was born November 17, 1937 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Marion and Maybell Johnson Anderson. He grew up in Independence, Kansas and attended school in Independence, Kansas. After graduation Leland entered the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict in the 39th parallel. He was honorably discharged. Survivors include six brothers Maurice Anderson of Bryant, Texas, Lemuel Anderson of Houston, Texas, Walter Anderson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Barnard Anderson of Washington, D.C., Tommy Anderson of Kansas City, Kansas and Ralph Anderson of Overland Park, Kansas.
