Kathryn Kidd

Kathryn Kidd, age 88, of Independence, Kansas died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Windsor Place in Independence, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Higginsville Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Memorials can be made to the USD 446 Education Foundation Lonnie Wood Scholarship Fund and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Kathryn was born January 17, 1921 in Corder, Missouri to Robert Hugh and Florence Jennings Kidd. She grew up in Corder, Missouri and graduated from High School. Kathryn received her bachelors of science degree in teaching from Central Missouri State University she did her graduate study at Colorado State University, University of Wyoming and Pittsburg State University. Kathryn taught for 3 years in Missouri before moving to Independence, Kansas in 1946 where she taught English for both junior and senior high school before retiring in 1986. She became a master teacher in 1984. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence, Kansas. There are no immediate survivors.
