Kandie Lee Maples-Prince

Kandie Lee (Maples) Prince, 59 of Independence, Kansas, passed away May 26th, 2024, at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas surrounded by her loved ones.

Kandie was born January 10th, 1965, in Columbia, Missouri to William Earl Maples and Carol (Cochran) Maples. She lived her childhood and young adult years in the Girard and Pittsburg area. She was united in marriage to her soulmate Michael Prince Sr. on July 12th, 1989.

Kandie was always the life of the party. She loved to sing, dance, and never met a stranger. She would help anyone or take anyone in with no questions asked. She was caring and had the biggest heart. She was always there for anyone who needed her. Her children’s friends often called her, “Mom”. Kandie loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, fish, go to the casino, garden, and cook for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Emerson and Marie Cochran, her father William Maples and granddaughter Emilee Hankins.

She is survived by her husband Michael Prince of the home, her mother Carol Robinson (David), daughters Earlene Bell (Terry) of Neodesha, Natalie Prince (Kevin) of Independence, Jennifer Tersinar (Chuck) of Independence, and Ashley Hyatt of Arma, sons Michael Prince Jr. (Pam) of Neodesha, Nicholas Prince (Monica) of Independence, Christopher Tersinar (Jamie) of Huntsville, Alabama, sisters Laurie Horn (Kevin) of Rolla, Missouri and Tracey Jensen of Walnut, brothers William Maples (Karina) of Frontenac, Wallace Maples (Lisa) of Shaw, Stacey Maples (Casey) of Franklin, nineteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence on Thursday, May 30, 2024 with the family greeting friends from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Kandie's life will be held at Neodesha Cross Roads Church at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
