June I. Hankins, 96, of Afton, Oklahoma formerly of Independence, Kansas died Friday November 29, 2013 at the Grove Nursing Center, Grove, Oklahoma.
A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Potts Chapel with the Reverend David Henneke of the First Baptist Church Officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
Visitation hours will be held from 8:00 a.m. to Service time with the family receiving friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Potts Chapel.
The family has suggested memorials to the Alzheimer Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
June was born January 30, 1917 in Independence, Kansas the daughter of William Orville and Mary E. Spradling Garrison Hites. She grew up in Independence and attended the LaHunt School System.
On April 21, 1935 June was united in marriage to Marvin Hankins and the couple made their home in Independence. Marvin preceded her in death in May of 2002.
June was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter LaDorna Runyon of Afton, Oklahoma one granddaughter two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
