With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Judy Ann Hartzell (Miller), who left us peacefully on June 22, 2026, at the age of 82. A native of Coffeyville, Kansas, Judy was born on July 11, 1943, to Robert and Maggie Miller (Mortizkey). Her foundation was laid in the heart of Coffeyville, a community she cherished since 1947.
Judy devoted over 21 years of her life to her role as a cook at Sonic, where she was not just an employee but a cherished member of the community, bringing joy and nourishment to countless lives. Her love extended beyond the kitchen; she was a passionate advocate for animal welfare as a member of the ASPCA and a devoted member of her faith communities at the First Church of God in Coffeyville and later the First Christian Church in Independence.
On July 29, 1961, she united in marriage with the love of her life, Forrest James Hartzell, in Junction City, Kansas. Together, they embraced the joys of parenthood, bringing into this world two beautiful daughters, Julie A. Bishop and Loretta J. Glasglow, who were the light of her life.
Judy will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, her nurturing spirit, and her unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She leaves a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness, woven through the lives of those she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a host of beloved siblings: sisters Dora Ernestine Miller, Geneva Russel, Catherine Lenoria Miller, Bonnie Despaw, Nadine Virginia Miller, Donna Soleman, LaNora Hill, Dora Russel, Aline King, and brothers Robert Eugene Miller, Bobby Lee Miller, Tommy Ray Miller, Billy James Miller, Roy Franklin Miller.
A visitation in Judy's honor will be held on June 25, 2026, from 5 to 7pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. The funeral service will follow at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel on June 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with a graveside to follow at the Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends and family are invited to gather and share in a celebration of her life, as we bid farewell to a remarkable woman who will forever remain in our hearts. Following the service, Judy will find her final resting place, where she will continue to live on in spirit and memory.
In this time of sorrow, we invite all who knew and loved Judy to honor her legacy of love by reflecting on the joy she brought into our lives.
