Juanita Eliza Branick, 99, of Independence, passed away Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Independence.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday March 4, 2014 at the Potts Chapel, Independence with the Reverend David Henneke of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Altoona Cemetery in Altoona, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
Viewing and book signing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday March 3, 2014 at the Potts Chapel.
The family has suggested memorials to AWOL of Independence, and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
Juanita was born December 12, 1914 in Rose, Kansas the daughter of Ralph and Bea Hoag Elam. She grew up in Fredonia and graduated from the Fredonia High School.
On September 9, 1934 Juanita was united in marriage to Warren Branick at her parents home in Fredonia, Kansas. The couple lived in Fredonia, Shawnee Mission, Kansas, and Mineral wells, Texas, returning to Independence, Kansas around 1975. Warren died May 26th 1993.They were married for 58 years.
Juanita worked as a waitress for restaurants in Fredonia and then for the Foodtown Grocery Store as a clerk
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Independence since March 4, 1942.
Survivors include one sister, Neva Crawshaw, of Denver, Colorado, as well as nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Warren, two sisters and one brother.
