Joy Williams

Joy L. Williams, 76, of Independence died Tuesday July 10, 2012 at her home. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday July 13, 2012 at the Potts Chapel Independence, Kansas. With the Reverend Darren Melton officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kansas, under the direction of Potts Chapel, Independence. Joy was born February 16, 1936 in Independence, Kansas the daughter of Earl and Mildred Hall Howard. Joy grew up in Independence and graduated from the Independence School System. On April 8, 1955 Joy was united in Marriage to Joe Williams and they made their home in Independence. They later divorced. Joy work for 32 years as a CNA and she last worked for the Coffeyville Assisted Living in Coffeyville, Kansas. Survivors include Melody Bagwell of Independence, Ks., Martha Holt of Coffeyville, Ks., Tammy Mershon of Okoboji, Iowa, one son Stephen Williams of Independence, Ks., five sisters Louise Russell of Independence, Ks., Helen Mavers of Independence, Ks., Virgina Gillman of Coffeyville, Ks., Dorothy Dunbar of Wichita, Ks., Ann Boots from Kentucky. Eight Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. Joy was preceded in death by her parents two Grandchildren Derek and Lacy Cain and two Great Grandchildren Damien and Jade Cain of Independence, Kansas.
