JOSEPHINE Jo KATHERINE COLE Josephine Katherine Cole of Cherryvale, age 84, died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Cherryvale Care Center. Josephine was born January 19, 1928 to Ray K. and Josephine Josie Duncan Wallace in Cherryvale, Kansas. On October 21, 1950 Josephine married Norman R. Cole in Bentonville, AK. Josephine had worked at the H.D. Lee Garment Factory, Cherryvale Electra Mfg. Co. in Independence and Princess Homes in Parsons. She was employed by Vallis Wyngroff in Cherryvale, KS until she retired. Jo was an outdoor girl. As a child she loved fishing with her brother and father. She was an avid softball player. She loved golf and was a longstanding member of the Cherryvale Country Club. She also enjoyed gardening and you could find Jo up to her elbows in dirt tending her flowers and bushes. Jo was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cherryvale for over 60 yrs. She taught bible school and raised her family in the church. Jo and Dick owned a home near Grand Lake, OK and spent much time there. After retirement she clocked a lot of miles traveling to see her grandkids or seeing the country with the Grand Travelers Club. Jo was a gentle, quiet, unpretentious christian lady who never spoke badly of anyone, never wanted for more than she had and was thankful for everything she did have. She liked loud booming fireworks, collecting coins and quilts, and riding her motorcycle. She especially loved the Lord and her family. Survivors including her husband Norman Dick are: Daughter: Connie Tredway and husband Chuck of Goodyear, AZ Son: Norman R. Cole, Jr. of Tulsa, OK Grandson: Chad Tredway and wife Shari of Ladera Ranch, CA Two Great Grandsons: Chase and Cole Tredway of Ladera Ranch, CA Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, two half brothers and a half sister. Graveside service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00AM the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas.
