Joseph A. Streck, 92, a life long resident Cherryvale, Kansas, died peacefully in the presence of the Lord on Sunday February 19, in Irving, Texas surrounded by family and friends. Born on July 30, 1919 in Cherryvale, KS. the son of Joseph and Alice Streck. He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Elsie Plumley, Fae Benson, and Mae Axer. He served 7 years in the U.S. Army during World War II. Joe came home to Cherryvale and married the love of his life, Maxine Wright who preceded him in death in 1957. After her death, he concentrated on raising his two sons and being dedicated to the loving memory of his wife. He worked 35 years at the Model Cleaners, where he kept Cherryvale in clean clothes. Joseph is survived by two sons, John and his wife Gayla, James and his wife Tina, 6 grandchildren Tracy Alcorn, Angela Streck, Roshonda Streck, and Caleb Streck all of Irving, Texas, Tara Frentrop of Orting, Washington, and Travis Streck, deceased. 4 great grandchildren, Justin Alcorn deceased, Katie Alcorn, Meagan Peek, and Jameson Streck, and one niece, Sharon Kay and husband Ron Harkness of Florissant, Colorado. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thur.10:00AM February 23 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Cherryvale, Kansas. Interment will be at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas.
