Joseph Luther Madden, Jr., Copan, passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2023. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, July 21st, 2023, at 1:00pm at Potts Chapel of Independence. Burial with military rites will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening 5:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral home.
Joseph L. Madden was born on April 29th, 1929, in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He was the son of Joseph L. and Mary Isabelle (Hall) Madden. He was raised and went to school in Henryetta. After school he joined the United States Army. He served in three wars: World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He was employed by the US Army in the maintenance department and retired.
He enjoyed fishing, building things and loved playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW Post 1186.
Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Catherine Lucille Dulohery and six siblings: David, Ruth, Margaret, Aline, Franklin and Florene.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Rea, of the home; sons: Terry Madden and George Randal Madden; stepson Gene James Patton; grandchildren: Christina, Christopher, Chelsea, Crystal, John Michael, Jason, Kimberly, and Gene James Jr.; and fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
