John Wallace Stewart, age 78 of Independence, Kansas died Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. No services are planned at this time. John was born January 20, 1933 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Jack and Gladys Johnson Stewart. John attended schools in Independence, Kansas. John worked for the Montgomery County Road Crew for over 20 years until his retirement at the age of 62. John was a member of the Independence Church of the Nazarene. John has lived in Independence, Kansas for 68 years. Survivors include one sister Ruth Rathsack of Cochise, Arkansas Great Nieces Serenity Phelps of Independence, Kansas, Brenda Warner of Buffalo, Kansas, April Warner of Topeka, Kansas, LaDonna Griffith of Las Cruses, New Mexico Great Nephew David Warner of St. George, Georgia numerous greatgreat nieces and nephews, and numerous greatgreatgreat nieces and nephews.
