John Simmons

John L. Simmons, 69, of Bolton, Kansas passed away Thursday August 9, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Independence. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday August 16, 2012 at the Bolton Friends Church in Bolton, Kansas with Pastor Grady Miller of the Bolton Friends Church officiating under the direction of Potts chapel, Independence, Kansas. The Family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Association and or American Heart Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel Independence or Bolton Friends Church, Bolton. John was born May 25, 1943, in Freedom, Oklahoma the son of John W. and Elanor T. Thompson Simmons. He grew up in Wayside, Kansas attending the Wayside School Systems. On August 9, 1964 John was united in marriage in Independence, Kansas to Carolyn Sue Sams. They made their home in Bolton. Carolyn preceded John in death in April 2006. John drove a truck for Independence Ready Mix until his health forced him to retire. Survivors include three sons, Darrell Lee and Melisa Simmons, Caney, Ks., Kevin Eugene and Tricia Simmons, Bolton, Ks., Michael Ray and Stephanie Simmons of Tyro, Kansas one brother Leslie Dale Simmons, Bolton, Ks. two sisters Priscilla DeWitt and Judy Valentin both of Neodesha, Ks. 9 grandchildren and 1 great grand child.
