John A. Petrick, age 97 passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at his home in Independence, Kansas. John, the son of George and Anna Sakino Petrick was born August 17, 1917 in Gates, Pennsylvania and was a resident of Independence, Kansas since 1948. He married Florence M. Carlson in 1944 and they had one son, John R. Petrick. His wife and son preceded him in death and there are no immediate survivors.
John graduated from high school in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and served in the Army Air Corp from 1941 to 1945. He was a quartermaster at the Independence Army Base. He was retired from Cities Services, Independence, where he worked as an oiler repairman. He was a member of Neewollah Campers, AARP and the First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel. Friends may pay their respects to John from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Potts Chapel.
The family has suggested memorials to the First United Methodist Church Childrens Programs and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
