NEWS MEDIA NOTIFICATION JOHN LEE HERSH John Lee Hersh, age 82, of Cherryvale, KS, died on December 29, 2009 at his home in rural Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation will be 1 pm to 6 pm, Sunday January 3, 2010 at Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas with the family receiving friends from 3 to 6 pm. Services will be 10:00 am, Monday January 4, 2010 at Mount Zion Church with Pastor Marty Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Potts Chapel of Cherryvale. Lee was born on June 11, 1927 to Eugene and Zelma Oliphant Hersh in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in the Dennis and Cherryvale, Kansas areas, attending school in Dennis. He married Ruth Botts on April 1, 1950 in Cherryvale, Kansas. She preceded him in death January 21, 2002. Lee was employed by Boeing Aircraft as a jig builder. He was a Merchant Marine and served in the Air Force for 4 years. He is survived by sons, Tim Hersh of Cherryvale, Kansas and Gary Hersh of Dodge City, Kansas; one daughter, Madeline Blevins of Cherryvale, Kansas; one brother Sam Hersh of Bentley, Kansas; one sister Mary Helton of Andover, Kansas; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
