JOHN DAVID JD HARPER John JD Harper, 75, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at his home. Celebration of Life services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2011 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Cherryvale with Gerald Zuck, pastor of New Hope Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas. Friends may register from 12noon until 8 P.M. Sunday at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale with the family receiving friends from 6 P.M. until 7 P.M. Memorial remembrances are suggested to the New Hope Christian Church and they may be left at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale or mailed to P.O. Box 801, Independence, Kansas 67301. John David Harper was born June 11, 1936 at Parsons, Kansas the son of Charles Harper and Ina Mae Woodroof Harper. He grew up in Parsons and attended schools in Altamont, Kansas graduating in 1955. On August 6, 1955 in Parsons, Kansas he was united in marriage to Crystal Passwater and she survives at the home. He worked for many years as a Dairyman, Farmer and Oilman in the Cherryvale area. 1982 JD was the Dairyman of the year. He served four years on the Montgomery County Commission from January 14, 1991 to January 9, 1995, Chairman of the Board in 1992, President of the Kansas County Commission Association in 1993, Southeast Kansas Regional Planning commission, member of New Hope Christian Church, Dairymen Association, Deacon and Elder at the Cherryvale Christian Church. Survivors include wife, Crystal of the home, four sons Kent Lee Harper of Mount Jackson, Virginia, Scott David Harper of Neodesha, Kansas, Jay Alan Harper of Cherryvale, Kansas, Benjamin Edward Harper of Liberty, Kansas: two daughters Carol Sue Khosravani of Everett, Washington, Nancy Joan Castilleja of Cherryvale, Kansas, 12 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Eugene Harper.
