John Davis

July 28, 1938 — October 22, 2014

John J.R Davis, 76, of Independence, KS passed away on October 22, 2014 at home with his family by his side. Cremation has taken place.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26th at Journey Church located at 136 Catalpa, Independence. The service will be officiated by Helen Martin. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Potts Chapel in Independence. Memorials are suggested to Mercy Hospice and AWOL, they can be left at Potts Chapel.
J.R. was born in Cherryvale, KS on July 28, 1938 to Nadine and John Davis. He was raised by his grandparents, Edna and Clarence Edinger of Coffeyville, KS. He graduated from Field Kindley High School and Votech in Coffeyville, KS in 1956.
J.R. was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his sister Nancy Joanne.
J.R. is survived by his loving wife, Ginny Davis of 18 years sister Sharon Smallwood of Caney, KS brother Larry Davis of Boise Idaho daughter Joni Gaertner and her husband Lance, Sons Derrick Davis and his wife Lesa, Darrin Littlepage and his wife Kelly, Billy Don Littlepage and his wife Brook.
J.R. married Ginny on August 10, 1996 in Independence, KS. With J.R. came Joni and Derrick, and with Ginny came Darrin and Billy Don. Together they have 13 wonderful grandchildren Tyler, Trenton, Laken, Jacob, Whitley, Savannah, Kassidy, Jordan, Wyatt, Austin, Tatum, Brayden and Emma Jean. One greatgrandchild Kyndon and one great grand baby on the way. J.R. proudly served his country from 19611964 he enjoyed telling stories about being stationed in Germany. J.R. was the dog training instructor for Fawn Creek 4H Club he also served as a judge for many 4H dog shows. He was a tool and die maker all his life. J.R. served as Mens Ministry Leader for PHC for several years. He went to the school of ministries in Hutchinson, KS where he earned his ministry license. J.R. and Ginny pastored Trinity Believers Ministries. He had a great passion for woodworking.
J.R. Davis was a Godly man, a loving husband, Father, Grandfather and will be deeply missed.
