Joe Sanchez Solis

Joe Sanchez Solis, 74, of Independence, Kansas, passed away June 13, 2025, at Montgomery Place Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness.

Joe was born to John V. and Petra Solis on April 11, 1951, in Billings, Montana. When Joe was a toddler, the family moved to La Junta, Colorado where he attended school. As an adult, he moved to Independence in late 1978. Joe made a career as an over-the-road truck driver. He enjoyed cooking and riding his motorcycle.

Joe was proceeded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father John and Petra Solis, five brothers John Jr., Ted, Domingo, Pascaul and David, three sisters Cecilia, Loise and Carmen, two nephews John Zamora Jr. and Angelo Solis, and daughter Loisa Solis.

Joe is survived by his significant other Tammy Holliday and their son Christopher Holliday, also sons Joe Jr., Paul, Raul, and daughter Diana Solis from a previous marriage, sisters Isabel Zumwalt and Juanita Zamora, nieces Consuelo Solis, Angela (Jeff) Robinson, Yolanda (Dan) Berry, nephew Tony Zamora (Michelle) whom he was very close to, other nieces and nephews, and several grandchildren.

Cremation will take place at Potts Funeral Home.
