Joan Perkins

Joan Ellen Perkins, age 97, of Independence, Kansas died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Memorial Services will be planned on her birthday in Augusta, Kansas.

Joan Ellen Perkins was born February 10, 1916 in Wichita, Kansas to Ray W. and Ellen Elvira Smith Snyder. She grew up in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from the Wichita East High School in 1934. Joan attended Wichita State University and received her training for Lab Xray technician at Wesley.

On August 31, 1940 Joan married Alonzo Easton Perkins and he preceded her in death in 1992. Joan worked at the Wellington Hospital for a few years, then for Boeing Aircraft in the Clinic. Joan then worked for the Hoisington Hospital until her retirement in 1980. After her retirement the couple made their home in Augusta, Kansas. Joan moved to Independence, Kansas in March of 2012.

Survivors include one son John Perkins of Sedan, Kansas one daughter Diane Wuthnow and husband Rod of Olathe, Kansas preceded in death by one daughter Lonnie Isaak two granddaughters Lora Aube and husband Mike of Raymore, Missouri and Jeanna Smith of Vancover, Washington two great grandchildren Alex Aube and Adeline Aube.
