Jimmy Lee Wiles, 76, of Neodesha, KS passed away after a brief illness on October 30, 2023, in Independence, KS. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 17th, 2023 at Potts Chapel at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers donations can be left at Potts Funeral Home to  VFW, American Legion, and AWOL.

Jimmy was born in Neodesha, KS to Willie L and Helen L Wiles on November 8th, 1946. He attended Wichita South High School. In 1964 he enlisted in the United States Army. In his service of 6 years, he serviced 3 tours in Viet Nam and was part of the 173rd Airborne Brigade.  Jimmy was awarded many commendations including, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal W/“V”, Air Medal, Overseas Service Bars x5, Expert (Rifle M-16), Good Conduct Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Army Commendation of Heroism.  He was Honorably Discharged at the end of his service.  He went on to be employed as a lineman for cable companies throughout the US.  

Jimmy was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by one son Jimmy L Wiles, Jr and wife Angela; one grandson Evan Wiles, all from Colorado Springs, CO.; three sisters Melody (David) Watson of Independence, KS, Lori (Jay) Juby, of Coweta, OK., and Deanne (Steve) Lower of Independence, KS.; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He’s proceeded in death by his parents and one brother Norman L Wiles.
