Jimmy Spradling

Jimmie Dale Spradling, age 73, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Independence, Kansas with the Reverend Darren Melton and Reverend Carl Craig officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. Jimmie was born August 31, 1937 in Independence, Kansas to Harvey and Eva Chaffin Spradling. He grew up in Independence, Kansas and attended schools in Independence, Kansas. Jimmie served in the United States Air Force. On September 1, 1959 Jimmie married Lois L. Woods in Newport New, Virginia. Jimmie worked as a welder and Kiln Burner at the Atlas U.S. Steel Cement Plant. After retiring for health reasons Jimmie taught wood carving out of his home. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife Lois of the home two sons Jimmie R. Spradling of Grove, Oklahoma and Johnny W. Spradling of Coffeyville, Kansas four sisters Barbara Price of Rogers, Arkansas, Betty Main of Grove, Oklahoma, Ardis Perry of Miami, Oklahoma and Sandra Blake of Ness City, Kansas two brothers Tommy Spradling of Grove, Oklahoma and Steve Spradling of Lincoln, Nebraska 6 grandchildren and scores of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothersinlaw.
