Jimmie Wothington

Jimmie Don Wothington, age 57, of Independence, Kansas died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Regal Estates in Independence, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the Father Stephen Thapwa officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to FORPAZ and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Jimmie was born June 16, 1952 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Bobby G. and Betty J. Worthington. He grew up in the Bartlesville, Oklahoma area and graduated from the Bartlesville High School. Jimmie retired from the United States Air Force in 1991. Jimmie married Kathleen Zenner on November 16, 1986 in Colorado Springs, Colorado where they made their home before moving to Okinawa, Japan and then to Independence, Kansas in 1994. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, T.R.E.A. and the St. Andrews Catholic Church. Jimmie and his wife ran the Independence Group Home for boys until 1999. Jimmie owned and operated Worthington Properties since 2000. Survivors include his wife Kathy of the home; one daughter Jennifer Leon of Branson, Missouri; one son Christopher Worthington of Branson, Missouri; two sisters Debbie Littlepage of Altamont, Kansas and Susan Evanson of Joplin, Missouri; five grandchildren Ramon, Carlos, Austin, Madison and Izabella.
