Jessie Mae Berwager, 92, formerly of Seaboard, NC passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023. She was born on February 11,1932 in Northampton County, NC to the late Willie and Rhoda Gay. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Henry Berwager and her sisters, Elizabeth Gay DeBerry and Lillian Gay Davis.

 

Jessie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Westminster Maryland and worked for many years in the Dietary departments of several local assisted living centers in Carroll County, Maryland.

 

She is survived by her two sons, John Allen Berwager and Michael Clifton Berwager, and a grandson Matthew Fassett. She also had many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

 

Jessie was always smiling, encouraging, and had a positive attitude about life. She thanked God for all that He provided her, and thanked Him for every day she was given. She was loved by all she contacted, always smiling, and left an impression of love and kindness to whose lives she touched.

 

The family would like thank the friends and staff of Eagle Estates Assisted Living in Independence Kansas for the many years of care and friendship they provided.

 

The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 5:30 pm at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services, 731 Roanoke Avenue, Roanoke Rapids, followed by a brief service at 6:30 pm.

 

Jessie will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Trinity Cemetery, 833 Deer Park Road, Westminster, Maryland 21157. A brief graveside service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Melissa Helfer officiating.
