Jessica LeAnn Gilchrist

Jessica LeAnn Gilchrist, age 43 of Independence, Kansas passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the St. John Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jessica was an Organ Donor and her gift went immediately to 3 recipients, plus others. The Hospital staff gave her what they called “a heroes acknowledgement with the walk of honor”.

Jessica was born April 29, 1981 in Garden City, Kansas to Donna Kathryn (Klofkorn) and Richard Kent Gilchrist who preceded her in death. Her early childhood was spent in Plainville and Lincoln, Kansas. She then attended high school in Independence, Kansas, graduating in 1999. Jessica then attended the Coffeyville Community College. Jessica was a licensed CNA and worked as a home health care worker contracted by private nursing. Jessica loved to fix things especially anything to do with home improvements. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include two children Mone’t McCarroll and Jovante Haynes both of Independence, Kansas; two step children Antonio McCarroll and Alejandero McCarroll both of Washington; Mother Donna Gilchrist of Independence, Kansas; siblings Christopher Rogers of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Shelley Collins of Overland Park, Kansas, Tony Rogers of Independence, Kansas, Jennifer DeRossett of Hollister, Florida and Ryan Gilchrist of Independence, Kansas; Uncle and Aunt Bill & Kim Gilchrist of Norman, Oklahoma; step sister Tami Doran of Mustang, Oklahoma and step brother Michael Russell of Maize, Kansas; step mother Sherry Vaughn of Miaze, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Bill Knight officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel. Reception will follow at 2:00 p.m.
