Jennie Chastain

Jennie Mae Chastain, age 96 of Caney, Kansas died Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas with the Reverend John Earl Chastain officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011 and from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Jennie was born October 24, 1914 on a farm North of Havana, Kansas to John Milton and Mary Dorothea Randel Hook. On January 16, 1932 Jennie married Albert Nathan Chastain in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Caney, Kansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the River of Life Tabernacle in Coffeyville, Kansas. Survivors include two sons Albert E. Chastain of Caney, Kansas and Rev. John E. Chastain of Parsons, Kansas three granddaughters, two grandsons, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild two nieces and 7 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents Charles Milton Hook, and six siblings Charles Milton Hook, Helena Ellen Hook, Mary Elizabeth Hook, Dorothy Vernon Lyon, Edwin Clair Lyon, Ruby Ilee Lyon.
