Jaunita C. (Lewis) Bohr passed away Thursday, April 22, 2020 at her home. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 27, 2020 at 1:00pm at the Calvary Cemetery at Mount Hope in Independence, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and can be left at Potts Chapel.
Jaunita was born on June 26, 1924 in Cave City, Arkansas. She was the daughter of John William and Celia (Girtman) Lewis. She graduated high school in 1943. She was united in marriage to George R. Bohr on November 29, 1946 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale, Kansas. George passed away on January 14, 2010.
Jaunita had many hobbies, including sewing, gardening, baking bread and canning. She had a special place in her heart for all babies. Her family will remember her most for her homemade bread and canned pickles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Marvin, Oras, Robert, Captola, and Girtman Lewis, and grandsons: Glen Tharp and Jeremy Sanborn.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son John (Brea) Bohr of Coffeyville, KS., daughters: Patty (John) Tharp of Purcell, OK., D. Regina Bohr of Cherryvale, KS., Cathey (Gene) Sanborn of, Independence, KS., Betty Bohr of Cherryvale, KS., and Julie (Kent) Drummond of Parsons, KS., brother-in-law Nick (Karen) Bohr, sisters-in-law: Helen Bohr, Becky Bohr and Carol Bohr, and many nieces and nephews.
