Jim Rice was born James Allen Rice to parents Floyd and Betty Rice on August 25, 1953 in Wichita, KS. He died November 30, 2016 at his home in Elk City, KS with his wife Jacque at his side.
Jim is survived by his wife Jacque of their home, sons Matthew James Rice (Louise), Mikel Aemisegger (Stephanie), Matthew Aemisegger (Brooke), daughter Alexandra Maria Rice, sisters Jeanne Linville, Patti Shaffer (Leland) and Janet Peterson (Ed), Jolene Schmidt, three grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Floyd Edward (Bud) Rice, Sr., mother Betty Jeanne Gardner Rice and brother Floyd Edward Rice, Jr.
Jim grew up in Elk City where he attended Elementary and Jr. High. The family moved to Independence when he was in 10th grade, he then graduated from Independence High School in 1971. As a young adult he lived several years in Independence but was happiest when he was able to return to Elk City to buy and renovate the family home he grew up in.
Jim married the love of his life Jacinta Maria Bernal on August 12, 1988 and became "Pops" to sons Mikel and Matthew Aemisegger.
Most of his adult life Jim was a self-employed carpenter. His handiwork can be seen in many homes and businesses in and around the Elk City/Independence area. He loved working with his hands and spent as much time as possible outdoors or in his shop.
The memorial service celebrating Jim's life will be held in Elk City, KS at the Nazarene Church on Friday December 9 at 11:00 am. Followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Elk City, KS.
