James Andrew Pollock, 83 of Independence, Kansas passed unexpectedly on August 16th, 2018 at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nazarene Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 21st, 2018 from 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Potts Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Staci Clubine Scholarship fund. These funds will provide scholarships for CNA and nursing certificates.
James Andrew Pollock was born November 28th, 1934 in Vurgess, MO., the son of Andrew and Zeffie Pollock. He graduated from Mulberry High School in 1951. He attended Independence Community College with a football and basketball scholarship. He continued his college education at Pittsburg State University with a Business Degree while playing football at PSU. He is still the #1 PSU Gorilla football fan. While attending PSU, he married Mary Ann Pedigo on June 2nd, 1957.
After graduation, he and Mary Ann moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was employed by Tide Water Oil Company. Later they moved back to Independence where he began his employment with Union Gas Company. Shortly there after, Jim and Mary Ann became owners of nursing homes and partners in Quality Motors and Quality Toyota. Jim and Mary Ann were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Staci Lynn Clubine, Kim McGrath, and Lisa Fox.
He enjoyed all sports, especially golf and tennis. He looked forward to watching his grandchildren in their sports activities. He had many fond memories traveling to New Port Beach, California with his daughters and his yearly golfing trips with his buddies.
James is survived by his two daughters, Kim McGrath and Lisa Fox, Six grandchildren, Morgan Fox of Houston, Tx, Darby Fox of College Station, TX, Bryan Clubine of Independence, KS, Kelby McGrath Lein of Melissa, TX, Kara McGrath of Dallas, Tx, Jaden McGrath of Independence, KS, and two great grandchildren, Ryker and Ryley Fox of College Station, TX, One brother John Pollock and Frances Workman. He was proceeded in death by daughter Staci Clubine, Parents Andrew and Zeffie Pollock and five siblings.
