James JIM Hugo, 71, of Cherryvale died Friday at Mercy Hospital, Independence. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Potts Chapel Cherryvale, Kansas, with the Reverend Wayne Hett Officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, Kansas under the direction of Potts Chapel, Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from Noon to 8:00pm Monday, January 16, 2012, with the family receiving friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Potts Chapel, Cherryvale. The family has suggested memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel, Cherryvale. Jim was born December 28th, 1940 in Liberty, Kansas the son of James Ott and Minnie Branson Hugo. He grew up in Liberty and attended school in Liberty before graduating from the Coffeyville School System. On April 3, 1964 Jim was united in marriage to Virginia Kelley and the couple made their home in Cherryvale. Jim worked for the Bryants furniture store for many years. He also owned and operated J H Services. Jim had many hobbies including working on vehicles, using the internet and talking to people in general. He loved his family gatherings and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include Virgina Hugo, two sons Randy and wife Mandy Hugo and Rick Hugo both of Cherryvale, two daughters Regina and husband Tim Douglas of Cherryvale, Janie and husband David Hals of Quapaw, Oklahoma ,one brother Ronnie Hugo and one sister Sue Encinia of Independence, Kansas Twelve grandchildren, 6 great grand children and one great great grandchild. Jim is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Kenneth Hugo and two grandchildren.
