Jackie Lee Harris 73, of Independence, KS, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Labette Health Care in Independence, KS. A celebration of life service will be at 11:00am Friday, February 9,2018 at Potts Chapel in Independence, KS.
Jackie Lee Harris was born December 16, 1944 in Vinita, OK. The son of E V Harris and Betty Lou (Stewart) Harris, He attended High school in Parsons, KS. After graduation, Jackie attended Labette County Community College and graduated with an Associate Degree. Jackie enlisted in the United States Army on November 15, 1966 and was honorably discharged November 14, 1972. Jackie was united in marriage to Nelda K. House on May 10, 1997 in Las Vegas, NV. Jackie worked for several grocery stores In the Neodesha and Independence, Kansas area. Jackie lived in Independence for 25 years. Jackie loved to spend time in the yard gardening, cooking, traveling, loved to laugh and tell stories, and loved to visit the casinos to play the slots. Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and loving family.
Survivors include, his wife, Nelda of the home, two sons, Scott Alan Harris and wife Jacki of San Antonio, TX, Jason Lee Harris of Leavenworth, KS, one daughter, Stefani Jo Galloway of Louisburg, KS, one sister, Pat Jolly of Corsa Canna, TX, and eight grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Vickie Conrad. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that a memorial be left in Jackie's name to Veteran's Freedom Square at the Independence Park or to the Independence AWOL.
