Jack Wesley Scovel, age 71, of Tyro, Kansas died Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Caney, Kansas with the Reverend Brad Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Fawn Creek Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Jack Wesley Scovel was born July 29, 1939 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Claude and Eunice Scovel. He lived on the family farm East of Tyro nearly all his life. Jack went to grade school at the Ringo School and the Coffeyville High School. Jack also attended Coffeyville Junior College. Jack and Louise McGuire were married on June 5, 1960. They were the proud parents of three children Kirt, Craig New Boston, TX, and Christy Norman, Oklahoma. The couple later divorced. On October 9, 1970 Jack married Ethel Dixon Scovel. Three stepchildren were added to the household Terry Afton, Oklahoma and Toni Tyro, Kansas and Barry Dixon. Jack was experienced in Fiberglass Construction having worked at Starcraft, Cobalt, TriGlass and Diamond Coach. He knew a lot of people and remembered everyone. Jack loved his children dearly as they all loved him. Children and stepchildren were all considered his children. He loved living on the farm, taking care of the cattle and visiting with the neighbors. Jack is survived by his wife Ethel, children Craig and Christy, stepchildren Terry and Toni, Kirt and Barry preceded him in death sister Wanda Watson of Jetmore, Kansas, Brother Wayne Scovel of Derby, Kansas and wife Mary 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
