Irene Magill

Irene Sutter Magill, age 98, of Independence, Kansas died Thursday, February 07, 2013 at the Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2013 at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Irene was born May 5, 1914 in Aurora, Kansas to Alfred Ted Leroy and Edna Boyce Pennock. She grew up in Salina, Kansas and graduated from Salina High School in 1932. Irene then graduated from Kansas University with a bachelor of science in secondary education. Irene also later received her elementary education degree at Friends University. On December 21, 1936 Irene married Carl Herman Sutter in Salina, Kansas. Irene taught school in Clyde, Kansas, Wichita, Kansas and in the Independence, Kansas school system. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son Fred and wife Joann Sutter of Panama City, Florida one daughter Sue and husband Larry Owens of Coffeyville, Kansas close friend Walt Bellairs of Independence, Kansas four grandchildren Neil Owens, Elaine Hayes, Kimberly Robison and Kristy Sul 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Herman Sutter in January of 1965.
