Imogene McGee Hearn passed on to receive her heavenly reward on September 15, 2015, at her home in Independence, KS. She was 87 years of age. She was born on July 29, 1928 in Ft. Smtih, AR to Jeptha Anderson McGee and Della Amma Teague McGee.
On March 25, 1950, Imogene McGee of Ft. Smith, AR and Horace Ray Hearn of Greenwood, AR, were united in marriage and their love affair lasted over 65 years. Imogene and Ray spent 42 years raising their family in Orange County, CA. Upon retirement, they moved to Independence, KS in 1994.
Imogene was known for her many interests, which included her love of gardening, painting, sewing, writing, and traveling. She was quite a cook and loved having guests at mealtimes. She was also a successful real estate agent in Orange County, CA for 20 years.
Imogene was very devoted to her faith and was known for her early morning prayer time and Bible devotion. She is affectionately known as "Sister Hearn" by her church family of Santa Ana, California and Independence, KS. Imogene is also affectionately known as "Jean" and "Jeannie" by many of her life long family and friends.
Being a Mother was Imogene's signature accomplishment. She dedicated her life to providing a home of love, security, and training her five children. Her greatest joy was having her children walk in truth. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Imogene is survived by her beloved husband, Ray of Independence, KS; including four daughters and one son; Elizabeth Christine Herion of Independence, KS; Vera Louise Blatto of Bakersfield, CA; Kathryn Lynn Sorah (Randy) of Independence, KS, Vonda Lorraine Forrest (Nathan) of Fordland, MO and her son, Michael Ray Hearn (Saundra) of Keizer, OR. She is also survived by three brothers, Robert McGee of Sherwood, AR, Orville McGee of Placentia, CA, and Dan McGee of Murrieta, CA. Imogene was a loving grandmother to fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Truth Tabernacle, 1825 N. 10th Street, Independence, KS. The memorial service will begin at 12:00 noon at Truth Tabernacle, Independence, KS. Internment will immediately follow memorial service at Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, KS.
