Ila Jean Rayl, age 76, of Niotaze, Kansas died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas with the Reverend Dan Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Ila Jean Rayl was born March 6, 1934 on a farm North of Niotaze, Kansas to Everett and Thelma McKee Henderson. She attended schools at Niotaze, Peru and graduated from Caney High School in 1951. On July 12, 1959 Ila Jean married Floyd W. Rayl in Niotaze, Kansas. Floyd preceded her in death on May 27, 1993. She was employed at ST. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas for 14 years. She moved to Niotaze in 1980, where she worked at the Caney Hospital from 1984 until she retired from Jane Phillips Home Health in 1997. Ila Jean was a member of the Niotaze Methodist Church. Survivors include one son James A. Rayl and wife Cheryl of Independence, Kansas Grandson William A. Rayl of Independence, Kansas Step Son Harold Rayl of Redding, California one sister Carol Brown of Copan, Oklahoma.
