Ida Mae Anderson Kinnard, age 67 of Independence, Kansas died April 28, 2010 at the Regal Estates in Independence, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Robert Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Ida was born August 31, 1942 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Marion and Maybell Johnson Anderson. She attended local schools and graduated from the Independence Senior High School. In March of 1963 Ida married Elroy Johnson and the couple later divorced. Ida graduated from the Neosho County Community College Nursing Program in 1973. On October 19, 1975 Ida married C.R. Sleepy Kinnard and he survives of the home. Ida worked at the Manor Nursing Home until her health prevented her from performing her duties in 1998. She was a member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she was the recording secretary for a short time. Survivors include her husband C.R. Sleepy Kinnard of the home two sons Waylain Johnson, St. Louis, Missouri and Conway Johnson of Independence, Kansas five step children Annie Carter, Marlene Allen, Ray Kinnard, Romel Kinnard, Shelia Brown all of Independence, Kansas. seven brothers Maurice Anderson of Bryant, Texas, Lemuel Anderson of Houston, Texas, Walter Anderson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Barnard Anerson of Georgia, Leland Anderson of Chanute, Kansas, Tommy Anderson of Kansas City, Kansas and Ralph Anderson of Overland Park, Kansas 4 Grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters.
