Howard Wayne Knight,71, of Cherryvale died Friday at the Labette Health, in Parson, Kansas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel, Cherryvale, Kansas with Pastor David Bennett of the First Southern Baptist Church of Cherryvale officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of the Potts Chapel of Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00pm at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale. Wayne was born October 15, 1941 in Liberty, Kansas the son of George and Shirley Thornton Knight. He grew up in the Cherryvale area and attended the Cherryvale School System. Wayne served in the United States Marines and attained the rank of E4. Wayne was united in marriage to Cecilia Oakleaf for 42 years they later divorced. Wayne was a carpenter and was self employed until his health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 1186 in Independence, Kansas. Survivors includes one daughter Shelli Blair of Altamont, Ks., three sons Leon Knight of Independence, Ks, Curtis Knight of Cherryvale, Ks, and Phillip Knight of Coffeyville, Ks, . Three brothers Frank Knight of Cherryvale, Ks., Larry Knight of Parson , Ks., Bruce Knight of Yates Center, Ks., two sisters Arleta Montross of Cherryvale, Ks., and Missy Knight of Conway Springs, Ks.,
