Howard Curly Hester, 78, of Caney, Kansas died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Medicalodge Care Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, Kansas with Bishop Jeff Hogge of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Independence officiating. Burial will follow the service under the direction of the Potts Chapel of Caney, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friends can leave a message online for the family at www.pottsfuneralhome.com. The family has suggested memorials to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Independence and contributions may be left at Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Curly was born February 22, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Howard Charley and Anthem Howard Hester. He grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma attending the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Schools. In 1957 Curly was united in marriage to Evelyn Francis Malone. They later divorced. On October 26, 1971 in Caney, Kansas he was united in marriage to Margaret Mullan and the couple made their home in Caney. Margaret survives at the Windsor Place Assisted Living in Coffeyville, Kansas. Curly worked for the Johnston Lumber Company in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include his wife Margaret of Coffeyville, Kansas three daughters, Caroline Faglie of Barnsdall Oklahoma Rebecca Evans of Independence, Kansas and Robin Longbons of Nowata, Oklahoma five sons, Harry Hester of Cherryvale, Kansas, Patrick Griffin and Dirk Griffin III of Caney, Kansas, Mark Griffin of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Howard C. Hester of Cherryvale, Kansas his Uncle Harry Howard and wife Phyllis of Chautauqua, Kansas 28 Grandchildren and 17 GreatGrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Hester.
