Herbert A. Hub Meyer III, 67, of Independence passed away Thursday August 7, 2014 at his home.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Independence, Kansas with the Reverend Melanie Adams officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date under the direction of the Potts Chapel of Independence, Kansas.
The family will greet friends at the Church following the service refreshments will be served.
The family has suggested memorials to the FORPAZ Logan fountain renovation project or the Harry Haynes Memorial Hospice of Coffeyville and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence.
Hub was born June 15, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Herbert A.and Mary McDonald Meyer Jr. He grew up in Independence, Kansas and attended and graduated from Independence High School. He then attended the University of Kansas from which he received his BachelorsDegree.
On June 3rd , 1969 Hub was united in marriage to Dianne Eddins they later divorced. He was later united in marriage in October 5, 1990 in Miami. Oklahoma to Kristin Crumrine and she survives at the home.
Hub was the Publisher of the Independence Daily Reporter for 43 years.
Hub was a member of the Montgomery Auction Consul, Independence Industry, Independence Chamber of Commerce, Wheeler Dealers and was on the Governors Ethics Committee.
Survivors include his wife Kristin of the home, two sons Herbert A. Chip Meyer IV and wife JoAnn of St. Louis, Mo., Scott Meyer and wife Toni of Lees Summit, Mo., one daughter Brittiany Meyer of Independence, five grand children Katelyn, Matthew, Chris, Cole, and Cooper Meyer.
