Helen Grace Medsker, age 90, of Independence, Kansas died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Labette County Health Center.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel.
Visitation hours will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2014 with the family receiving from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorials to the Charity of their choice and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
Helen Grace Medsker was born June 28, 1924 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma to William E. and Montie Clay King. She grew up in the Independence and Cherryvale area and attended schools in Independence and Cherryvale.
In September of 1942 Helen married John Medsker in Joplin, Missouri. They made their home in Independence, Kansas. Helen was a homemaker. John preceded her in death in 2009.
Survivors include her children John M. and wife Peggy Medsker, Linda J. and husband Norman Blumer, Kathy D. and husband Rudy Lentz, Steven M. and wife Vickie Medsker, Becky A. and husband Wayne Bright all of Independence, Kansas one sister Nellie Frances King Schlotfelt of Independence, Kansas 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren
