Helen Marie Jabben, Independence, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the Lutheran section of Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, KS. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 25th from 1:00pm-7:00pm, with family greeting friends 5:00-7:00pm at Potts Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran School, the Zion Lutheran Church and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org).
Helen Marie Jabben was born on May 21, 1931 in Neodesha Kansas. She was the daughter of Frank and Lucy Harvey. Born and raised in Neodesha, Helen gradated with the class of 1949. She later attended Wichita Business College, graduating in 1951. She worked as a secretary for Sinclair for 3 years.
On April 4, 1954 Helen married the love of her life, Elvin Jabben. They made their home in Neodesha, traveled around to a few places before making it back to settle in Independence Kansas.
Helen enjoyed cross stitching and baking. Her true passion was spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Pamela and husband Tracy Passauer, son Brian Jabben, granddaughter Amanda and Matt Hoover, sister Barbara and husband Judson Jones, and great-grandchildren: Ethan and Sadie Hoover.
Preceding Helen in death were her parents, husband and 2 sons: Robert and Allen Jabben.
