Helen Gwin-Brown-Kinnamon

March 7, 1919 — April 13, 2016

Helen Eileen Gwin Brown Kinnamon, 97, passed away at her home in Independence, Kansas with her loving family by her side on Thursday, April 13, 2016.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 18, 2016 at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation will be Sunday, April 17, 1:00 - 5pm, with the family receiving friends from 3:00 -5:00pm.
Helen was born south of Peru, Kansas on March 7, 1919 to David Earl and Corrie Alice (Jones) Gwin. She graduated from the Peru High School in 1936. On June 27, 1937 she was united in marriage to Birl Brown. They farmed in Chautauqua county (with a brief time away in Iowa and Howard, Kansas) until they retired and moved to Independence in 1975. Birl passed away and she moved into Penn Terrace in 1992. She later married William R Kinnamon.
Helen was an active member of the First Christian Church in Sedan and Independence where she taught Sunday school for most of her life. Her joys in life were her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, playing piano, baking cookies and cinnamon rolls.
She is survived by her daughter Doris (Jerry) of Wisconsin, son Gale (Peggy) of Wichita, brother Roy (Vela) of California, daughter-in-law Susan of Liberty, nine grandchildren; Vicki (Tony) Peyton, Kristi (David) Sanchez, Sharla Blanche, Scott Brown, Jerry (Karen) Brown, Pamela (Brian) Graber, Brent Huneycutt, Diane (Chad) Montgomery, Kenny (Cyndee) Huneycutt, four foster grandchildren; Gary Kearns, Bill (Julie) Kerns, Mary Smith and Betty (Joe) Babinet, and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, son Robert, her parents and brothers Wayne, Max and Dale and great-grandson Zachary Sanchez.
