Helen Baker

Helen Elizabeth Baker, age 89, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Parsons, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2010 at the South Center Cemetery southeast of Thayer, Kansas with the Reverend Don Keenan officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 9, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Cherryvale Library or the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. She was born February 18, 1921 to Everett and Mabel McKee Thomas, near Edna, Kansas. On June 5, 1943 Helen married Lloyd Baker who preceded her in death in 1994. She married R.D. Hatfield in 1997. He preceded her in death in 2004. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Emmett Thomas and a sister Ruby Daughterty. Helen worked at several local companies in her lifetime. She retired from Vallis Wingroff Business Forms in 1988. She enjoyed sewing and fishing and camping . Helen is survived by two sisters, Margaret Jackson of rural Parsons, Kansas Donna Brillhart of Wichita, Kansas, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
