Harvey Lee Lewis Sr.

October 18, 1933 — January 5, 2025

Harvey Lee Lewis Sr., a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away on January 5, 2025, at Credo Senior Living Center. Born on October 18, 1933, in Lonedell, Missouri. Harvey led a life marked by devotion to family, a successful career, and a commitment to his community.

After earning a bachelor's degree at Missouri University of Science and Technology, Harvey began a distinguished career as a chemical engineer with Sinclair/ARCO, where he dedicated over 30 years of service. His professional life culminated in retirement during the 1980s, but his contributions extended far beyond his employment.

Harvey's life was defined by his values and interests. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a longtime member of the Independence Gun Club. He actively participated in his community as an ordained deacon at First Baptist Church, where he served for many years. He was also a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, reflecting his dedication to service and brotherhood.

In addition to his community involvement, Harvey enjoyed a wealth of hobbies. An avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, and bowler, he would never have a shortage of things to keep his interest. He also had a passion for the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team, rarely missing a game on TV. In his younger years, he sang in a quartet known as the Gospel Heirs, demonstrating his love for music and demonstrating his love of people, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through his love of music.

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his children, Harvey Lewis Jr. and wife Teresa, Mike Lewis and wife Debbie, and Debra Van De Veer. He found immense joy in the company of his 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, often spending time chasing them around and creating lasting memories.

Harvey is predeceased by his beloved wife, Macie Pauline Lewis; his parents, John Henry Lewis and Clara Eliza Ann Lewis; his sister, Edith McKinnon; and one great-great-grandchild.

As he departs from this world, he leaves behind a legacy of love, support, and cherished memories that will resonate through the lives of his family and friends.
