Harry Allen Scott, 85, of Independence passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas. A Celebration of Harry’s Life will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 1:00PM.
Harry Allen Scott was born on September 24, 1933 in Independence, Kansas to Everett and Marye Scott. Harry graduated from Independence High School. After high school, Harry enlisted in The United States Army. He held the rank of Corporal when he was honorably discharged in 1955. He fought in the Korean War. Harry married Christina Bruhn on August 13, 1982 in Independence, Kansas where they made their home with their sons, Henry and Sam. Harry worked at KG&E for 13 years, then Emerson Electric and then retired from Standard Motors in 1996. Harry was a member of the VFW, Shriners Club, Mason Club and Scottish Rights. In his free time Harry loved to hunt, fish, build bird houses, and frequent casinos.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Marye Scott, brothers, Everett Scott Jr., and Tommy Scott, sisters, Ivy Bertie, Betty Ramenda, Alberta Bertie, Nina Mae and Francis Scott, and grandson, Ethan Bruhn.
Harry’s memory will carry on with his wife, Christina Scott of Independence, sons, Henry and Sam Bruhn of Independence, sister, Blanche Folk of Independence, 3 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
