Harold Mishler

Harold E. Mishler, age 90 of Independence, Kansas formerly of Cherryvale, Kansas died Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Grand Village Nursing Home in Independence, Kansas.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the New Hope Christian Church with the Pastor Gerald Zuck officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale.

Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale.

The family has suggested memorials to the New Hope Christian Church or Harry Hynes Memorials Hospice and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas.

Harold E. Mishler was born November 4, 1923 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Henry Louis and Mabel Barker Mishler. He grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas. Harold served in the United States Army.

On February 14, 1943 Harold married Esther Boyd in Larned, Kansas. The couple moved to Cherryvale, Kansas in August of 1943. Esther preceded him in death. Harold owned and operated Massey Ferguson in Cherryvale, Kansas until his retirement. Harold also did small engine repair. He was a member of the New Hope Christian Church, honorary member of the FFA, and was a former mayor of Cherryvale.

Survivors include two daughters Marcia Shadaberg and husband Mark of Richmond, Virginia, and Jeanie Ogle and husband Don of Omaha, Nebraska 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren four brothers Carl Mishler of Independence, Arthur Mishler of Neodesha, Harry Mishler of Wichita, and Dale Mishler of Independence four sisters Betty Pogue and Dorothy Cole both of Independence, Ruth Mishler of Coffeyville and Helen Fleenor of Winfield. Harold was preceded in death by one daughter Kathy Shrum, and five siblings, Margaret Moore, Thelma Richards, Frank Mishler, Francis Mishler and Shirley Barnes.
