Gloria Grimes Elstro, age 70 of Independence, Kansas died Friday, September 11, 2015 at the St. Johns Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel.
Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel.
The family has suggested memorials to the Potts Chapel and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel.
Gloria Grimes Elstro was born March 28, 1945 in Richmond, Indiana. The daughter of Roy and Wilma (Wilkerson) Campbell. She grew up in Richmond, Indiana and attended schools in Richmond. In 1962 Gloria married Homer Grimes the couple made their home in Richmond, Indiana. Homer preceded her in death.
Gloria later moved to Independence, Kansas with her partner of 20 years Lee Stark. Gloria was homemaker. She also was a waitress and bartender for the Independence Country Club for many years.
Survivors include one son Wayne Grimes of Independence, Kansas; two daughters Tammy Grimes (Brian Eytcheson) of Independence, Kansas and Debbie Ray (Terry) of Neodesha, Kansas; two step children Sheila and Tim Stark; two brothers Mike Neal of Lafetette, Indiana and Robert Davis of Orlando, Florida; two sisters Linda Davis Rangle of Cambridge, Indiana and Beverly of Union City, Indiana; nephew Mike Sasher of Richmond, IN; and her best friend Mary Jane of Indiana; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son Jimmy, sisters Judy & Joyce, Brother John, and her parents Wilma and Roy.
