Ginger Burris

Ginger A Burris, age 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by her three children July 15, 2021, in Independence, KS. She was born and raised in Caney, KS, to William (Bill) and Evelyn Carinder.

Ginger married her high school sweetheart, Luther Burris. Ginger lived her dream as a stay at home mom raising two wild boys until surviving Luther’s passing in December 1991. Ginger married Greg Larkin in June 1994, bringing Jessica Larkin into the family. Ginger and Greg enjoyed 23 years of marriage until mutually separating ways.

Ginger never met a stranger. She loved meeting new people and sharing stories. She was the Director of the Community Preschool in Caney, KS, for over 10 years. Ginger also loved to travel when she could. Her most fulfilling passion other than her children were animals. Ginger always took exceptional care of her animals and any strays that made their way to her like they were her own children.

Ginger is preceded in death by her father, William Carinder, first husband, Luther Burris, and brother, Everett Carinder. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Carinder, sisters and their husbands, Wilma & Tom Rogers of Caney, KS, Jane & Dennis Hartley of Caney, KS, and Susie and Mike Riles of Atlanta, GA, her three children, Lance & Matt Burris of Merriam, KS, Lonnie Burris of Independence, KS, Jessica Larkin & Josh Maddy of Overland Park, KS, two dogs, and one cat.

A Celebration of Life will be held August 1, 2021, at the Caney United Methodist Church from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Caney City Recreation Commission in her honor.
